Our story
Two shoppers and one bad evening
We're Ivan and Danica, a married couple who take shopping a little too seriously. Ivan is a developer, a former high school math teacher and a digital marketer. Danica is the one of us who reads the returns policy before the product description. Our house rule: nobody clicks "Place order" until one of us has looked for a code.
One evening we tried eleven "verified" codes for a pair of shoes, and none of them worked. Then Danica found a better deal on the store's own page in five minutes and told Ivan to fix it. Ivan is a developer, so we got to work.
That's Offertium: the coupon site we wanted for ourselves, where every offer has a date, the conditions are up front and nothing says "Verified" unless we checked it. And yes, we have both added socks to a cart to reach free shipping.
Why we built Offertium
The usual coupon search
Long pages of codes that all look alike, many of them old, nearly all of them labeled "verified". You copy one, paste it at checkout, and get "this code isn't valid". Then you try the next one.
On Offertium
Every offer shows when we last saw it and how we know it works. Offers past their end date come off the page. A code only says Verified after a recorded check: tried at checkout, or confirmed by the store. And when we don't know something, we say so instead of filling the gap.
How a store page is made
-
We pick the stores
We start with the stores shoppers search for most, in the US and other countries, and add more as shoppers ask for them.
-
We read the store's own pages
Shipping minimums, return windows, student and military discounts, payment options and past sales come from the store's site, each with its date and a link.
-
We collect the offers
Codes and sales from the store, its newsletters, its affiliate program and other public promotions go on the page with a date. The best offer goes first, by rules we publish.
-
We check and clear out
Our editor tries codes at checkout, and our scripts try codes in real carts. A code that fails comes down, ended offers leave the page, and a code shoppers report as failing drops down the list.
The labels, time limits and ranking rules are all in how we check codes.
The people behind Offertium
Founder & CEO, Offertium
Ivan started Offertium with his wife Danica after one too many evenings of "verified" codes that didn't work. He has a master's degree in IT, taught mathematics and informatics in high school, and has spent years as a developer and digital marketer. He builds the site and reviews every store page before it goes live.
Editor, Offertium
Danica P. is Offertium's editor, with years spent researching online retailers, prices and promotions. Her rule of thumb: a fair price beats the biggest banner.
She edits every store page, writes most of our guides and decides which offers make the cut.
Software helps us read hundreds of store pages, try codes in real carts and spot what changed. People decide what goes on the page. Our editorial policy explains how that works.
What we won't do
No made-up proof
No star ratings, "used 2,000 times" counters or "100% working" badges.
No paid spots
A store can't pay for a better place in the list or for a Verified label.
No fake urgency
We only say an offer ends soon when the store gave an end date.
No sign-up wall
Every code is free to use straight away. Email alerts are optional.
How we make money
When you buy after clicking one of our links, the store may pay us a small commission. Your price stays the same. That's what keeps Offertium free. The details are in our affiliate disclosure.
