Editorial policy
How we decide what goes on a page, who is responsible for it, how software helps, and how we fix mistakes.
Who writes and checks
Offertium is run by two people, and every page names who is responsible for it.
Danica P., our editor, edits every store page and writes most of our guides. In practice that means she:
- decides which offers are listed, and turns away codes tied to one creator, partner or customer;
- reviews store facts (shipping, returns, discount programs) against the store's own pages they came from;
- reads each offer's terms, exclusions and end date on the merchant's site, and dates every offer with its source;
- marks a code "Verified" only after a recorded check, and handles corrections you send us.
Ivan P., our founder, reviews the store pages after they are edited and writes some of the guides himself. He also looks after the software behind the site, so the rules on this page are the ones it actually follows.
Store pages carry an "Edited by Danica P. · Reviewed by Ivan P." line. A "Checked by" line appears only where a check is on record, with its date. Every guide names its author at the top and ends with a tip from them, and the guides page can show the guides by each of us.
How we use software, and where people come in
We use software, including AI, to work at the scale of hundreds of stores. We'd rather say plainly how:
- Reading the store's own pages. Software fetches each store's public pages (shipping, returns, FAQ, promotions) and pulls out the facts. Every fact keeps the address of the page it came from and the store's own wording it rests on; a fact whose wording isn't on that page is thrown out.
- Drafting. Store page drafts are prepared with AI assistance from those facts only. A draft that states a figure not found in the facts is refused automatically.
- Human review. Our editor reviews the facts against their sources, and our founder reviews the finished page. Reviews cover a sample of every batch plus every fact the software flagged as uncertain, and a batch with too many errors is held back.
- Checking codes. Software never marks anything as verified. "Verified" needs a real, recorded check at the store's checkout or a confirmation from the store or its network.
No text is copied from any older website.
Original pages, not templates
Every store page is written for that store. Before a page can appear in search engines, its text is measured against all our other store pages. If too much of it is shared wording, or it rests on too few facts from the store's own pages, it stays out of search results until it's rewritten. Short descriptions of each store are written in our own words from the store's about and home pages, never pasted from them.
Independence
Offers and store facts are chosen and ordered by published rules (see How we check codes and the affiliate disclosure). Stores and affiliate networks can't pay for a "Verified" label, for a place in a list, or to have a failed code taken down.
Sources
Store facts come from the store's own pages, listed under "Sources" on each store page with the date they were read. Every figure we show can be traced to a store, a network or a recorded check. Offers come from the store's own site, from affiliate network feeds and from the store itself. Guides cite their sources with the date they were read.
Corrections
Report a mistake through the contact page, naming the store and what's wrong. We fix it, and a corrected fact shows its new read date.
