About Hughes
Hughes is an East Anglian electricals retailer, founded in 1921, selling washing machines, fridge freezers, cookers, dishwashers, TVs, audio and small appliances online and from 19 stores.
Prices are in GBP, and the catch to know first is that Hughes voucher codes aren't valid on Numatic or Russell Hobbs products.
Hughes takes its name from Frank Hughes, who set up the business after coming home from the Great War. Its first shop opened in Lowestoft in 1928, and the family lived above it, and the company is now led by the third generation, Robert and Jeremy Hughes, with 3 service centres alongside its stores. In 2022 it won retailer-of-the-year awards from both IER and Sirius.
Besides selling outright, Hughes rents electricals at monthly prices, refurbished machines included, and its commercial arm, Hughes Trade, supplies businesses; it provided kitchen appliances for the London 2012 Olympics as well as the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. The range also stretches to pizza ovens, barbecues, air purifiers, game consoles and video doorbells, and every product carries a guarantee of at least 12 months.
Does Hughes offer free shipping?
Yes. Small appliances deliver free over £70, and large appliances and TVs deliver free on orders of £400 and over.
How long does Hughes shipping take?
Standard delivery takes 3+ days and costs £5.99 for small items and TVs under 55 inches, or £19.99 for large appliances and bigger TVs.
What is Hughes' return policy?
Contact Hughes first, then send goods back in the original packaging within 14 days of your notice, paying the postage yourself.
What payment methods does Hughes accept?
Klarna, Clearpay, PayPal Pay in 3, PayPal Credit and Hughes Rental sit alongside card payment.
Does Hughes price match?
Hughes says it matches competitors' prices, though detailed terms weren't on the pages read.

How to use a Hughes discount code
- Check the brand before counting on a Hughes voucher code, because codes don't apply to Numatic or Russell Hobbs products.
- A basket built around either brand needs a different saving, such as member pricing.
- If you plan to join Rewards Plus, do it before you order: the £20 voucher for joining is a time-limited offer, and member prices only show once you're signed up.
- Think about delivery as well.
- A small appliance under £70 adds £5.99 standard delivery, which can cancel out a modest code.
- Express, weekend and installation charges aren't refunded if you return the item.
More ways to save at Hughes
- Rewards Plus costs £19.99 a year, and the £20 joining voucher roughly covers it while it runs.
- Members also get price-drop refunds within 30 days and free recycling on selected products.
- Some products come with a free gift card.
- For larger appliances, PayPal Credit offers 0% interest for 4 months on purchases of £99 and over, subject to status, and Hughes Rental is an alternative to buying outright.
- Hughes also says it price matches competitors, so it's worth asking before you pay.
