About ILIA Beauty
ILIA Beauty makes clean, skincare-powered makeup and skincare, from SPF skin tints and mascara to lip and cheek color, brushes and gift sets, all cruelty-free and Leaping Bunny certified.
Founded by Sasha in Vancouver, it takes back gently used products within 60 days, which makes testing a new tint shade far less risky.
ILIA traces its start to 2011, when Sasha set out to remake a favourite lip balm after reading its ingredient list and finding parts of it unsafe. Before that she studied typography in New York and London, then worked in fashion and beauty branding in Los Angeles. Her younger brother Zac, who sailed for his country at the Olympics in 2008 and again in 2012, is now her business partner.
The brand calls its approach skincare-powered makeup: formulas carry active skincare ingredients, and SPF features heavily, from Super Serum Skin Tint SPF 30 to Sun Serum Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50. Other lines include Limitless Lash Mascara, Multi-Stick and Overglaze gloss. Packaging leans on recycled aluminum, glass and responsibly sourced paper, empties can go back through PACT, and 1% of Skin Tint sales fund reforestation.
