About ecobee
ecobee sells smart thermostats, room and door sensors, security cameras and home security bundles, with optional Smart Security monitoring plans on top.
If you're a new customer, join the newsletter before buying: the $20 off code is for new customers only and arrives by email.
ecobee builds its lineup around the thermostat, offered in several tiers, and adds sensors, cameras and bundles that tie comfort and home security together. Its hardware comes with a 3-year limited warranty, and refurbished thermostats pass an inspection and get by the same warranty as new ones. Smart Security monitoring is sold without contracts, and an air filter subscription is available for HVAC systems.
The support side is unusually broad for a hardware brand: a thermostat compatibility checker, guides for self-installation, an option for professional installation, and a tool for finding energy rebates. ecobee also lists integrations with other smart home platforms and Generac, runs a program for contractors, and offers a SmartBuildings sign-in. It operates separate storefronts for the United States and Canada, in English and French.

How to use a ecobee discount code
- Start with the newsletter if you've never ordered from ecobee.
- The $20 off code is sent by email, and it's meant for new customers only, so it won't help on a repeat purchase.
- Wait for that email before you pay, rather than checking out and hoping to add it later.
- If a friend has sent you a referral, you have a second route: the refer-a-friend program advertises 15% off.
- A flat $20 helps most on a single sensor, while a percentage grows with a bigger camera bundle, so compare them on your actual total.
- Shipping is free either way.
More ways to save at ecobee
- Certified refurbished thermostats are worth comparing with new ones, since they're inspected and carry the same 3-year limited warranty.
- If you add Smart Security, plans start from $5 a month without a contract, so you can drop monitoring later.
- Affirm lets you spread the device cost instead of paying it all at once.
- Free 30-day returns make it low-risk to try a thermostat in your own home.
