About Johnny Was
Johnny Was is a Southern California lifestyle brand selling embroidered dresses, kimonos, silk sets and tops, plus outerwear, swim, accessories and home goods.
The rule that matters most when you save here is the markdown line: pieces bought at 50% or more off are final sale. Adding a promotion to sale items may also make them final sale.
Johnny Was calls itself an international women's lifestyle brand, and its look leans on signature prints, vintage-inspired shapes and artisan techniques such as embroidery. Beyond everyday dresses and tops, the range runs to eveningwear, resort pieces, sleepwear and robes, and Italian-crafted leather bags, with petite and extended sizes in many styles and fabrics that include velvet, cashmere, mesh and denim.
For the home, the brand sells blankets, journals and pen sets, and its e-gift cards are offered to U.S. buyers. It also runs its own stores, has a wholesale business, and lets shoppers request a printed catalog or join its text and email lists.

When shoppers look for Johnny Was coupons
Johnny Was coupon searches peak in May, about 1.5× a typical month, and dip lowest in September.
Does Johnny Was offer free shipping?
Yes. Ground delivery in the contiguous United States is free from $125; below that it costs $10 and takes 5-8 business days.
How long does Johnny Was shipping take?
Express and overnight are offered, but not to P.O. boxes, APO/FPO, Hawaii, Alaska or territories, and shipping charges aren't refundable.
What is Johnny Was' return policy?
Unworn pieces with tags go back within 30 days for a refund to your original payment, free by mail or in store for US online orders.
What payment methods does Johnny Was accept?
Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, PayPal, Amazon Pay, Afterpay and Johnny Was gift cards are accepted.
More about shopping at Johnny Was
- Markdown rule
- Full-price and standard-markdown pieces (1-49% off) stay returnable, while anything bought at 50% or more off is final sale.
- Exchanges
- Johnny Was doesn't do direct exchanges, so a different size means returning the piece and placing a new order.
- Welcome offer
- Email sign-up brings 15% off your first purchase, though Joseph Brooks jewelry is left out of it.
- Gift cards
- E-gift cards run from $25 to $1,000, arrive by email within 24 hours, carry no expiry or fees and sell in the US only.
- Sales
- Johnny Was holds Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, plus end-of-season clearance at the end of each season.
- International
- Orders ship to more than 200 other countries and regions at USD prices, buyers pay duties, and fragrances can't ship abroad.

How to use a Johnny Was coupon
- Johnny Was only lets you redeem promo codes once you're signed in, so sign in or create an account before you reach checkout.
- New shoppers should sign up for emails first to get the 15% welcome offer, and leave Joseph Brooks jewelry out of that order because it's excluded.
- Gift cards never count toward a promotion.
- The bigger catch is on sale racks: putting a promotion on marked-down pieces may turn them into final sale.
- If you aren't sure about a silk set's fit, compare a full-price order with the code against a sale price you can still send back.
If your Johnny Was code doesn't work
- Exclusions: Gift cards are excluded from all promotions; the welcome offer excludes Joseph Brooks jewelry; adding a promotion to sale items may make them final sale.
- New customers only: 15% off a first order (sign up for emails to get 15% off the first purchase) does not apply to repeat orders.
- Where to enter it: Sign in or create an account to redeem promo codes.
More reasons a code fails, and what to try: why promo codes don't work.
More ways to save at Johnny Was
- Add your birthday in your email preferences and Johnny Was sends a yearly treat.
- Timing helps too, since the store runs Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales and clears stock at the end of each season.
- Clearing $125 in the contiguous US saves the $10 ground charge, which is worth knowing when you're just short.
- E-gift cards from $25 to $1,000 make an easy present, and shoppers abroad should budget for duties on USD prices.
