About NIU

NIU builds smart electric scooters, electric motorcycles, kick scooters and e-bikes that connect to the NIU App, and has since 2014.

The pages read were NIU's global site, with no US prices or US store policies, so confirm price and terms with whichever dealer or channel sells you the vehicle.

NIU Technologies was founded in Beijing in 2014 and has traded on NASDAQ under the ticker NIU since 2018. Its headquarters remain in Beijing, with an innovation lab in Shanghai and a large production plant in Changzhou. The company says it keeps design, software and battery management in-house, including a cloud-connected ECU that allows over-the-air updates.

The range grew from the NQi city scooter, crowdfunded in 2015, to the MQi, UQi and NQi GTS series, then to RQi electric motorcycles shown at CES in 2020. The XQi3 took the brand off-road in 2023, while the KQi kick scooters and BQi e-bikes cover short urban trips. On the European site, scooters are grouped by 50cc and 125cc equivalent licence classes. NIU cites 17 international design awards, among them Red Dot, iF and Good Design honours.

  1. NIU sells through authorized dealers, distributors and selected online channels, and the mix depends on the country.
  2. So a code only works where that seller accepts it, under that seller's rules.
