About Dickey's Barbecue Pit
Dickey's Barbecue Pit is a Texas-style slow-smoked barbecue chain that started in Dallas in 1941.

Dickey's Barbecue Pit goes back to Travis Dickey, a World War I veteran who ran the first restaurant with his wife, Miss Ollie, on a short menu of brisket, pit ham and beans. In 1967 the business passed to Roland and T.D. Dickey, his sons, who grew the business around Dallas-Fort Worth, and the family began franchising in 1994. The company says it now has over 400 locations across eight concepts in 33 states and abroad, and Laura Rea Dickey now leads the restaurant company as its CEO.
Every location smokes its meats on site each day over hickory, and the menu is built around brisket, pork, ribs and poultry with sides such as mac and cheese and Texas toast. The restaurants are known for their Big Yellow Cups, and the company also runs The Dickey Foundation.
