About Lobster Boys
Lobster Boys ships live, wild-caught North Atlantic hardshell lobsters overnight straight from fishermen, sold a la carte from 1 to 6 lb or packed into family and chef boxes.
The most dependable saving at this seafood shop arrives through a friend rather than a banner: a referral link takes $20 off a first order over $99.
Lobster Boys LLC is based in Halesite, New York, and is led by Justin and Travis Maderia, its co-founders; the brand describes itself as four generations strong. Justin grew up around the docks and focuses on cutting out middlemen for independent harvesters, while Travis, the CEO, works on making every lobster traceable back to its source. The company buys only from licensed lobstermen and says lobsters that are too small or too large are put back, since a lobster can take up to 7 years to reach harvestable size.
Lobsters are graded on meat-to-shell ratio and blood protein levels and sold in named size classes, from Chicks and Quarters to Halves, Small Selects, Deuces and Jumbos. The site also offers corporate gifting, recipes and a podcast.

How long does Lobster Boys shipping take?
Overnight across the U.S. including Puerto Rico but not Hawaii; orders in by 12 PM EST ship that day and arrive between 8 AM and 8 PM.
What is Lobster Boys' return policy?
Dead or damaged lobster claims need an unboxing video of the seal breaking, close-up photos and proof of purchase within 6 hours of delivery.
More about shopping at Lobster Boys
- The catch
- Live hardshell lobsters from the North Atlantic, a la carte or in family and chef boxes, run by co-founders Justin and Travis Maderia.
- Refunds
- Approved perishable claims go back to the original payment within 10 business days; a missed delivery day means a reship or refund, buyer's choice.
- Referral credit
- $30 in store credit per friend who orders, with no cap, emailed once that order passes 30 days without a refund.
- Gift cards
- E-gift cards from $50 to $450 arrive by email instantly and never expire; physical cards are sold as well.
- Minimum order
- At least 2 lobsters when each weighs under 2 pounds; above that size a single lobster can ship alone.

How to use a Lobster Boys discount code
- The shop is built on Shopify, so the discount box sits in the order summary on the checkout page.
- The $20 first-order saving works differently: it comes from opening a friend's referral link before shopping, and it needs a cart over $99.
- During the National Lobster Day event, banners advertised 20% off sitewide plus an extra 5% with a separate code, so read the banner wording for what combines.
- Timing matters as much as the code, because orders placed by 12 PM EST go out the same day, and a wrong or unsafe address marked delivered by the carrier gets no refund.
More ways to save at Lobster Boys
- Sharing a referral link is the one saving that repeats: each friend who orders earns $30 in store credit, and there is no limit on how many.
- Gift cards suit anyone sending lobster as a present, since they run from $50 to $450 and do not expire, though only a fully unused card can be refunded, within 15 days of purchase.
- Buyers who want just one animal should pick a lobster over 2 pounds, because smaller sizes ship in pairs.
- Once the box arrives, keep it in the refrigerator and cook within 24 hours.
Lobster Boys questions, answered
Is there a Lobster Boys discount for a first order?
A friend's referral link takes $20 off a first order over $99. The friend who shared it earns $30 in store credit once that order clears 30 days without a refund.
What if the lobsters arrive dead or damaged?
A claim needs an unboxing video showing the seal being broken, close-up video and photos, and proof of purchase, all within 6 hours of delivery. The refund or credit is set from that evidence and reaches the original payment method within 10 business days.
Where can Lobster Boys deliver?
Overnight delivery covers the U.S. and Puerto Rico, while Hawaii is excluded even though the shipping page mentions all 50 states. Boxes arrive between 8 AM and 8 PM local time.
Do Lobster Boys gift cards expire?
E-gift cards carry no expiration and are emailed right after purchase. They cannot be exchanged for cash, and refunds apply only to completely unused cards within 15 days.
Can a single lobster be ordered?
A lone lobster ships only when it weighs over 2 pounds. Smaller sizes require at least 2 per order.
How long do live lobsters keep after delivery?
Cooking within 24 hours is the guidance, with the lobsters left in their box inside the refrigerator until then.
When is the Lobster Boys National Lobster Day sale?
A National Lobster Day event with 20% off sitewide was running in late September 2026. The site does not give a usual date for it.
