About Rent the Runway

Rent the Runway rents designer clothing and accessories to women, through a monthly subscription or as one-time rentals, and lets customers buy pieces they want to keep; it has been running since 2009.

The rule that shapes any promo here: membership codes do not apply to one-time rentals, PRO, existing orders or items for sale, so a code has to match the kind of order being placed.

Rent the Runway was co-founded by Jennifer Hyman and Jennifer Fleiss, and it calls its model the "Closet in the Cloud": designer styles that members rent, wear and send back, or choose to keep. The selection is organized around occasions and needs, including wedding guest and bridesmaid dresses, workwear, everyday outfits, vacation clothes and maternity wear, and the site also sells pre-loved designer pieces.

Subscription shipments hold 5 items each, and the full membership closet spans 750+ brands. The company handles dry cleaning and pressing of every rental at no charge. The founders say they want to grow beyond rental into resale and a more circular approach to fashion.

How to use a Rent the Runway promo code

  1. Rent the Runway takes the promo code at checkout, so the plan or rental has to be chosen firSt. A membership code only works toward a subscription: it is not valid on PRO, one-time rental orders, existing orders or items for sale.
  2. Codes cannot be combined with other offers unless noted, which matters when a reduced first month is already running on the plan page.
  3. Codes that were auctioned, sold or shared without authorization may be voided, so a code picked up from an unofficial reseller can fail even after it seems to work.

If your Rent the Runway code doesn't work

  • Minimum order: "Save 30% on Reserve Orders of $60 or More" needs an order of at least $60; "50% Off $100+ Orders" needs an order of at least $100.
