Presidents' Day Sales & Promo Codes

What goes on sale for Presidents' Day

Presidents' Day weekend is one of the big furniture and appliance moments of the year. Mattress brands, furniture stores and appliance retailers often run their headline sales over the long weekend, and winter clothing clearance continues alongside.

Many of these sales open the week before the holiday and close on the Monday itself, so the weekend is the best time to compare prices.

How Presidents' Day sales usually work

Presidents' Day sales usually open the week before the holiday, and many close on the Monday night. A few brands start earlier in February or keep the sale going for a few days after. The long weekend is when most of the headline offers overlap, so it's the easiest time to compare them. Online sales often end at midnight in the store's own time zone, which may not be yours.

Mattresses, furniture and major appliances are the categories to watch. Mattress brands often take a percentage off sitewide or add free pillows or sheets, and furniture stores tend to mark down older collections before spring stock arrives. For appliances, it's often the first big sale since the winter holidays.

It's also the tail end of winter clearance. Coats, boots and cold-weather gear are often cheaper now than in December, though sizes and colors thin out by mid-February.

For a big purchase, the price is only part of the deal. Check delivery and setup fees, haul-away for an old mattress or appliance, the trial period and the return window. If you miss this weekend, the same categories usually come back on sale around Memorial Day in late May.
