Best Time to Buy Appliances: Month-by-Month Guide

The best time to buy appliances is usually Black Friday through Cyber Monday, followed by the big holiday weekends: Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, the 4th of July and Labor Day. Large appliances also tend to drop in price in the fall, when new models arrive and stores clear last year's.

Small kitchen appliances follow the holiday calendar even more closely, because people buy them as gifts. Below you'll find the year month by month, what to buy when, and the appliance stores we cover, from big names like The Home Depot, Lowe's, Costco and Best Buy to brands that sell direct, such as Samsung, LG and Whirlpool.

When do appliances go on sale?

Appliance sales run on two calendars. One is the holiday calendar, with the biggest promotions on long weekends and in late November. The other is the model calendar. When a new refrigerator, washer or range comes out, the old version often gets marked down until it's gone.

New large-appliance models tend to land in the fall, so late September through November is usually a strong stretch. Small appliances care less about model years and more about gift season.

Black Friday doesn't wait for the Friday anymore. AJ Madison had its Black Friday Sale running by October 2026, and Costco already had a Black Friday section in its menu. What's the best month to buy appliances?

Here's how a typical year goes. Every store sets its own calendar, so read this as a pattern, not a promise.

When should you buy each type of appliance?

Refrigerators, washers, dryers and ranges

Holiday weekends and the fall model turnover are the usual sweet spots. If you can wait, Black Friday and Labor Day are the strongest bets. If yours breaks in spring, Memorial Day is often the next good weekend.

Small kitchen appliances

Air fryers, coffee makers, blenders and multi-cookers are classic gifts, so they're promoted hard in November and December. Spring and early summer sales help too, but rarely as much. Our Kitchen & Cookware page lists the stores with current codes.

Vacuums and robot vacuums

Vacuums aren't seasonal, so they follow the sale calendar. Robot vacuums often see big markdowns around Black Friday and the fall sales that compete with it. Compare stores on our Vacuums & Robot Vacuums page.

Grills and outdoor cooking

Grills sell best in spring and early summer, so stores rarely discount them much then. Late summer and fall, when the season ends, are typically better. See Grills & Smokers for stores that sell them.

Ice makers, coolers and air purifiers

Big stores and appliance specialists

• The Home Depot: the big-box home improvement store, with appliances next to building materials, tools, flooring, paint and garden products. Seen on The Home Depot's homepage, Oct 13, 2026.
• Lowe's: its Labor Day deals banner was still up in October. Beyond appliances, it covers bathroom, flooring, lighting, outdoor, lawn and garden. Seen on Lowe's homepage, Oct 8, 2026.
• Costco: the membership warehouse club already had a Black Friday category in its menu in early October. It sells brand-name goods from groceries to appliances. Seen on Costco's about page and homepage, Oct 8, 2026.
• Best Buy: October brought its Techtober Sale, up to 50% off tech. Appliances sit alongside TVs, laptops and outdoor living, and the outlet sells inspected returns at a discount. Seen on Best Buy's homepage, Oct 8, 2026.
• Abt: an Illinois store for appliances, TVs, furniture and mattresses, with local delivery, installation and repair. Watch for its Customer Appreciation sales, which come around twice a year. Seen on Abt's help pages, Oct 21, 2026.
• AJ Madison: its Black Friday Sale was already on in October, along with a Flash Sale. Expect major appliances from the big brands: washers, dryers, refrigerators, dishwashers and kitchen packages. Seen on AJ Madison's homepage, Oct 13, 2026.
• IKEA: kitchens and appliances alongside furniture and home goods. In October it had holiday collections and holiday hosting promotions going. Seen on IKEA's homepage, Oct 19, 2026.
• Ferguson: mainly for trade professionals, with plumbing and HVAC supplies, water heaters and appliances. You'll need an online account to buy online. Seen on Ferguson's residential plumbing page, Sep 29, 2026.

Appliance brands that sell direct

• Samsung: its US store sells home appliances alongside Galaxy phones, TVs and monitors, plus certified renewed devices and trade-in. Seen on Samsung's homepage, Oct 8, 2026.
• LG: refrigerators, laundry, dishwashers, cooking, vacuums and air conditioners, plus TVs. In October it started early holiday savings on big-screen TVs, up to $2,000 off and 10% back. Seen on LG's homepage, Oct 12, 2026.
• Whirlpool: the Whirlpool Appliance Sale adds free install and haul-away on $399 or more, through Nov 3, 2026. It sells kitchen and laundry appliances, water filters and parts. Seen on Whirlpool's homepage, Oct 19, 2026.
• KitchenAid: stand mixers, countertop appliances and major kitchen appliances. In October it was running the Bread & Pasta Event. Seen on KitchenAid's homepage, Oct 19, 2026.
• Gasland: most of its gas, electric and induction cooktops, ovens, microwaves and tankless water heaters cost $200 to $550. Seen on Gasland's homepage, Oct 15, 2026.

Small kitchen appliances

• Ninja: air fryers, blenders, espresso and slush machines, outdoor grills and ovens, sold on the SharkNinja store. Seen on Ninja's homepage, Oct 12, 2026.
• Breville: espresso machines, coffee makers, ovens and air fryers, plus remanufactured products. Seen on Breville's homepage, Oct 12, 2026.
• Cuisinart: kitchen appliances, coffee makers, cookware and outdoor grills, sold direct. Seen on Cuisinart's homepage, Oct 12, 2026.
• De'Longhi: espresso machines, drip coffee makers, Nespresso machines, toaster ovens and heaters. Seen on De'Longhi's homepage, Oct 13, 2026.
• COSORI: air fryers, a coffee maker, multi-cookers, food dehydrators and kettles. Check its Daily Sale section any time; it also ran a Summer Sizzle Sale. Seen on COSORI's about page and sale page, Sep 29, 2026.

• Shark: up to 35% off fall favorites in its fall sale. The range covers vacuums, floor and carpet cleaners, air purifiers and fans. Seen on Shark's homepage, Oct 12, 2026.
• iRobot: Roomba robot vacuums and robot mops with docks, plus replacement accessories. Seen on iRobot's homepage, Oct 19, 2026.

• Levoit: air purifiers, humidifiers, tower fans, vacuums and replacement filters, a sister brand of COSORI. Seen on Levoit's homepage, Oct 13, 2026.
• Blueair: air purifiers, humidifiers, fans and replacement filters. Seen on Blueair's homepage, Oct 13, 2026.
• Coway: water and air purifiers, bidets and water softeners. Most people rent them for a monthly fee that covers delivery, installation and filter service. • Currys: UK electrical and tech store selling appliances, TVs and computing, with order and collect at its stores. Seen on Currys' homepage, Oct 19, 2026.
• Appliances Direct: UK store for cooking appliances, fridges, laundry and dishwashers, plus heating and air conditioning. Seen on Appliances Direct's homepage, Oct 18, 2026.
• Hughes: UK electricals store selling washing machines, fridge freezers, cookers and dishwashers, with delivery, installation and rental. Seen on Hughes' about page, Oct 21, 2026.
• Argos: a UK general store with appliances among tech, home and toys. It's lining up Black Friday 2026 deals for late November and a Christmas event for November to December. Seen on Argos' homepage, Oct 19, 2026.
• The Good Guys: an Australian store for fridges, laundry, kitchen and cooking appliances, with installation services. • Best Buy Canada: appliances, computers, TVs and smart home for Canadian shoppers. Its Tech Fest sale was on in October 2026. Seen on Best Buy Canada's homepage, Oct 13, 2026.

Plenty of these are brands rather than big appliance stores, so their sales don't always follow the holiday calendar. Euhomy, Beatbot and Shark all ran fall sales well before Black Friday. What should you check before you buy?

• Delivery and installation. Free shipping may mean curbside only. Hookup, haul-away and installation can cost extra, so a sale that includes them, like Whirlpool's, can be worth more than a bigger headline discount.
• Returns. Large items often carry return shipping or restocking fees. Read the policy before the sale ends, not after delivery.
• Warranty. Compare the manufacturer's warranty before you pay for an extended plan.
• Price protection. Some stores refund the difference if the price drops soon after you buy. See our price match guide.
