About Motel 6
Motel 6 runs more than 1,400 economy Motel 6 and Studio 6 locations across the US and Canada, all bookable online.
Its savings come mostly from rate types you pick when booking, such as the Military or Senior rate, and none of them can be combined with another promotion, discount or membership.
Motel 6 dates back to 1962, when William Becker and Paul Greene, two contractors from California, launched a 52-room Santa Barbara motel that charged $6 a night, which is where the name comes from. Its sister brand, Studio 6, is built for longer stays, with rooms that include a kitchenette and coffee maker and laundry on site.
Families and pet owners get some standing perks: kids 17 and under stay free when sharing a room with an adult relative, and up to two dogs or cats per room, weighing 150 lbs combined, stay at no charge. Accessible rooms carry an ADA label in online booking. The My6 membership is pitched at getting members the lowest price, and rooms can be reserved up to a year ahead.
When shoppers look for Motel 6 coupons
Motel 6 coupon searches stay fairly even all year: September leads, August trails.
Does Motel 6 offer a military discount?
Yes. Service members can book up to 10% off best available nightly rates, as a standalone rate that won't combine with others.

How to use a Motel 6 promo code
- At Motel 6, most discounts are rate types rather than codes.
- Select Senior Rate when you book if you're 60 or older, and bring ID, since it's shown at check-in.
- The military, senior, corporate and coupon rates each stand alone: none combine with another promotion, rate, discount or membership, and none carry cash value.
- Compare each rate with the My6 member rate before you commit.
- Rate availability can drop during special events, and cancellation deadlines can differ around special events, holidays and weekends, so read the booking screen closely.
More ways to save at Motel 6
- Families get the most from Motel 6's free-stay rules: children 17 and under share an adult's room at no charge, and up to two dogs or cats stay free as well.
- Joining My6 is the simplest step, since members get the lowest rate on stays.
- Seniors and military guests can take up to 10% off best available rates, and the site's seasonal banner advertises up to 15% off stays.
