Grammarly is an AI writing assistant that checks grammar and spelling, rewrites for tone, detects plagiarism and AI text, and adds citations, translation and AI chat.
Prices weren't readable on the stored pages, so the main lever is the billing period: the homepage says yearly billing saves up to 60%.
Grammarly was founded in 2009 by Alex Shevchenko, Max Lytvyn and Dmytro Lider and started out as a tool for checking students' grammar. In 2025 it acquired Coda and Superhuman Mail, and the company later took the Superhuman name, keeping Grammarly as one of its products. Its enterprise offering is now sold through Superhuman Go.
Grammarly says it runs in over 1 million apps and sites, with desktop apps for Windows and Mac, browser extensions for Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge, add-ins for Microsoft Office and Google Docs, and mobile apps for iPhone, iPad and Android. Grammarly Docs offers a separate writing space, Grammarly for Education gives schools campus-wide access, and accounts are open to users aged 13 and up. The company states that it does not sell user content or let outside providers train models on it.
