About Hertz
Hertz rents cars, SUVs, vans and trucks by the day, one way or by the month, from airport and city locations.
Its percentage discounts land on pay-now base rates, and taxes, fees and options stay at full price. Weigh the cheaper Prepaid rate against Pay Later's free cancellation before you lock in a booking.
Beyond everyday rentals, Hertz runs a used-car business, Hertz Car Sales, which sells vehicles taken from its rental fleet through dealerships in major US cities, accepts trade-ins and offers a TestDrive+ program with 3 days to try a car before buying. It also rents to rideshare drivers working with Uber and Lyft, supplies replacement cars while a customer's own vehicle is in repair, and handles government, military and convention bookings. The fleet includes electric vehicles, luxury models and Shelby cars, and the company lists over 10,000 locations worldwide, including FBO sites for aviation travelers.
Its free Gold+ Rewards program lets members redeem free rental days starting at 950 points, and Delta SkyMiles and Marriott Bonvoy members can earn miles or points on qualifying rentals.

How to use a Hertz promo code
- On the Hertz booking form, open "Add a Discount Code" and type the code before you run the search.
- That way the rates you scroll through already reflect it.
- Hertz lets only one promotion ride on a rental, so a code won't stack with a club rate or another special rate.
- Compare each option on its own and keep the lower total.
- The saving only touches the base rate, so a big percentage still leaves taxes, fees and add-ons untouched.
- Pay-now rates get the site's percentage discounts, but they bring cancellation fees after the first 24 hours.
- Check the blackout dates and vehicle classes before you commit, because an SUV or a holiday week may sit outside the offer.

What does it cost to cancel a prepaid Hertz booking?
Prepaid bookings cancel free within 24 hours of booking. After that, cancelling costs $100 when pickup is more than 24 hours away and $200 inside that window, never more than you prepaid.
Do Hertz discounts combine?
Hertz promotions can't be combined with other discounts, promotions or special rates, and they have no cash value. Pick the single offer that cuts your base rate the most.
Does Hertz accept debit cards?
