About McAfee
McAfee sells cybersecurity subscriptions for individuals and families, covering antivirus, scam detection, VPN, identity monitoring and privacy protection.
The figure to watch is the renewal: Premium costs new customers $49.99 for the first year, then renews at $149.99 a year, so the cheapest-looking plan isn't the whole story.
McAfee's consumer line centers on McAfee+, sold as individual plans and as family plans that can cover up to 6 family members, with Total Protection kept as a simpler tier for device and identity protection. Plans come in three levels, and the upper ones add removal of personal details found online, monitoring of bank and card activity, and support for restoring a stolen identity.
Outside the bundles, McAfee sells single products for phones and computers, offers free tools such as a device security scan and a password generator, and runs a separate business protection line.
