About Trainline

Trainline sells train, coach and bus tickets across the UK and Europe, comparing times and fares from more than 270 operators in 45 countries, along with Railcards and season tickets.

Before you chase a code for a UK trip priced in GBP, know its limit: a Trainline promo code covers one booking and never touches the booking fee.

Beyond selling tickets, Trainline offers a set of planning tools: a Journey Planner, live train times, a Ticket Alert that sends an email when Advance fares for a chosen route are released, a Best Fare Finder built on fares other customers have found, and Price Prediction. Its SplitSave feature divides a trip into separate tickets, which Trainline says saves an average of £13.

European bookings cover operators such as Eurostar, Trenitalia, Deutsche Bahn, SNCF, Renfe and ÖBB, and a search will suggest a coach where one runs. Commuters travelling 2-3 days a week can buy Flexi Season tickets, and the Trainline app holds digital tickets, platform information and a digital Railcard. The site works in several languages and currencies, and a separate business service is offered.

Refunds
Flexible UK fares such as Anytime and Off-Peak bought on or after 1 April 2026 must be cancelled by 23:59 the day before travel; Advance tickets can be changed, not refunded.
Fees
Booking fees aren't refunded and show before you pay; digital tickets carry no delivery fee, while posted tickets and station collection can.
Code rules
One code per booking, used in full and only from a Trainline account, with no combining with other Trainline offers.
Excluded operators
CAT, Deutsche Bahn and Renfe tickets don't take promo codes, and no code covers booking fees or VAT.
Railcards
A Railcard takes up to a third off fares for a year, and one not yet downloaded or used has a 14-day cooling-off period.

How to use a Trainline discount code

  1. Sign in to your Trainline account before you start, since codes only work on an account booking.
  2. Each code covers one whole booking and gets used up in full, so leftover value doesn't carry to a second trip.
  3. Check the operator too: CAT, Deutsche Bahn and Renfe tickets refuse codes, and the discount comes off the fare, not the booking fee or VAT.
  4. A refund wipes out the code's value, which makes a code a better fit for a trip you're sure about.
  5. The pages read for Trainline list no ticket prices, so its ticket search is where the real fare shows before you pay.

If your Trainline code doesn't work

  • Exclusions: Promo codes don't work on CAT, Deutsche Bahn or Renfe tickets, and don't cover booking fees or VAT; the code value is lost if the ticket is refunded.
  • Combining offers: One promo code per booking, used in full; it can't be combined with any other Trainline offer, and you need a Trainline account to use it.
  • New customers only: "10% off Your First Purchase via the App" is for a first order.
  • End date: "10% Discount" ends Nov 17, 2026; "Take 10%" ends Nov 24, 2026.

Trainline questions, answered

Can two Trainline promo codes go on one booking?

One code per booking is the limit, and it can't be combined with any other Trainline offer. You'll also need to be signed in to a Trainline account.

Do Trainline codes work on Deutsche Bahn or Renfe tickets?

Tickets from CAT, Deutsche Bahn and Renfe are left out of promo codes. A code also never covers booking fees or VAT.

Are Trainline tickets refundable?

That depends on the fare type. Refundable UK tickets like Anytime and Off-Peak bought on or after 1 April 2026 must be cancelled by 23:59 the day before travel, while Advance tickets can be changed but not refunded, and booking fees stay unrefunded.

What happens to a Trainline promo code if the ticket is refunded?

The code's value is lost once the ticket bought with it is refunded.
