About italki

italki is a marketplace for one-on-one language lessons and group classes, where each teacher sets a price and you pay per lesson with no subscription.

Listed lessons start from USD 5.00, so the teacher you pick shapes the bill before any promo code does.

italki connects learners with teachers in more than 150 languages, from English, Spanish and Japanese to Portuguese, Korean and Arabic. Teachers come in two kinds: community tutors and professional teachers who hold teaching qualifications. Many offer a trial lesson, and the Instant Lesson option starts one straight away instead of at a booked time.

Lessons can run 30, 45 or up to 90 minutes, and every teacher lists a 60-minute single lesson. Learners either pay as they book or load italki Credits in advance to spend on single lessons and packages, and gift cards are sold too. Outside paid lessons, the platform offers free practice material, including podcasts, articles, quizzes, prompts and a level assessment, plus a community area for trading experiences with other learners. Teachers can also apply through the site to join.

When shoppers look for italki coupons

italki coupon searches peak in April, about 1.4× a typical month, and dip lowest in August.

US Google searches, Sep 2025 to Aug 2026. Search interest, not sales.

How to use a italki promo code

  1. On italki, money changes hands when you book a lesson or top up italki Credits, so that's the moment a promo code, if one is running, comes into play.
  2. Before buying credits for a package, book a trial lesson with the teacher you have in mind; a package with the wrong tutor is no bargain at any discount.
  3. Compare the 60-minute rate across a few teachers, since every teacher offers one and it's the fairest side-by-side price.
  4. Check the 100% Satisfaction Guarantee terms before committing larger sums.

If your italki code doesn't work

  • Minimum order: "$10 Off $20+ Orders of Courses" needs an order of at least $20; "$5 Off $20+ Orders for New Users" needs an order of at least $20.
  • End date: "Up to 5% Off Select Orders" ends Dec 27, 2026; "$5 Off italki Orders" ends Jan 1, 2027.

More reasons a code fails, and what to try: why promo codes don't work.

More ways to save at italki

  • Take the free language assessment first so you don't pay for lessons pitched at the wrong level.
  • Community tutors suit conversation practice, while professional teachers bring teaching qualifications, and choosing the right type keeps the hourly spend sensible.
  • Shorter 30-minute lessons spread a budget across more sessions.
  • Podcasts and quizzes cost nothing between lessons. italki also sells gift cards, and a referral program is linked from the site footer, though its reward isn't stated there.
