About Pimsleur

Pimsleur, published by Simon & Schuster, teaches languages through audio-based courses in the app and on the web, with 50+ languages for English speakers and 15 versions of English.

You can subscribe or buy a course for life, and that choice decides your saving: discount codes work only on digital purchases, never on subscriptions.

The Pimsleur Method goes back to Dr. Paul Pimsleur, a linguist who argued in 1963 for self-study language materials and recorded Modern Greek as his first course; French, Spanish and German followed by 1967. The courses were first sold to consumers in 1980, and Simon & Schuster bought the rights in 1997, setting Pimsleur up as its own imprint. Editorial and recording work still takes place in Concord, Massachusetts. The format has moved from reel-to-reel tape and cassettes to CDs, digital downloads from 2005, and now the app.

Lessons rely on listening and speaking, with spaced repetition instead of written material. Around the core audio, the app adds flash cards, Speak Easy role-play transcripts, a Voice Coach that rates pronunciation, review games, offline listening and a hands-free mode for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Subscribers in the US can also collect points through Challenges & Rewards.

When shoppers look for Pimsleur coupons

Pimsleur coupon searches peak in January, about 1.6× a typical month, and dip lowest in November.

US Google searches, Sep 2025 to Aug 2026. Search interest, not sales.

What payment methods does Pimsleur accept?

Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and PayPal are accepted, and sales tax follows the bill-to zip code.

More about shopping at Pimsleur

Plans
Single-language subscriptions come as Audio-Only or Premium, All Access covers all 51 languages, and a lifetime purchase buys one course outright.
Free trial
A 7-day free trial opens every lesson, then renews into a paid subscription unless you cancel; canceling during the trial ends access at once.
Refunds
Subscription charges aren't refunded, even for unused time, while purchased digital courses come under a 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee.
Cancel deadline
Pimsleur.com subscriptions must be canceled by 11:59 pm ET on the last day of the trial or before the next billing date.
Household sharing
One course can be shared with up to three household members, which spreads its cost across the family.
Pause
Subscriptions started after June 20, 2024 can be paused for one or two months instead of canceled.
Where it's sold
Website subscriptions cover the U.S., Canada, Australia and the U.K.; elsewhere you subscribe through Apple or Google Play.

How to use a Pimsleur coupon

  1. Pimsleur shows a Promo Code box at checkout.
  2. Before you use it, check what you're buying.
  3. Codes apply only to digital purchases such as a lifetime course, and they don't work on subscriptions at all.
  4. One code goes on each transaction, and an expired code won't take.
  5. If you're set on a subscription, the 7-day free trial is the way to try it first, but mind the cancel deadline of 11:59 pm ET on the last day.
  6. Students can verify through SheerID for their own discount instead of hunting for a code.

If your Pimsleur code doesn't work

  • Exclusions: Discount codes can't be used on subscriptions, only on digital purchases.
  • Combining offers: One code per transaction; expired codes don't work.
  • End date: "40% Off" ends Nov 17, 2026; "30% Off Storewide" ends Nov 17, 2026.
  • Where to enter it: Enter the code in the Promo Code box shown at checkout.

More reasons a code fails, and what to try: why promo codes don't work.

More ways to save at Pimsleur

  • The refer program pays $20 per referred friend.
  • Subscribers also earn points in Challenges & Rewards by finishing in-app challenges, then redeem them for rewards in the US.
  • Military members, educators and first responders each have a discount listed, though the amounts aren't on the pages read.
  • Gift subscriptions don't auto-renew, and the giver can schedule the gift email up to six months ahead.
