Student Discounts: Stores That Give Students Money Off

On this page

Plenty of online stores give students money off, but almost none apply it on their own. You usually verify once with a service like UNiDAYS, Student Beans, SheerID or ID.me, or through the store's own form, and then a code or an automatic discount shows up at checkout.

More than 300 stores on Offertium run a student discount, and plenty of them are big names. Nike takes 10% off most items. Converse gives 15%, and Microsoft Store takes 10% off select Surface devices. Adobe and Hulu cut the first-year or monthly price instead. Here's how the verification services work, what to have ready, and which stores use which service.

  • Find the store's student page first. It's usually linked in the footer and names the service it uses.
  • Have proof ready: a school email address, a student ID or an enrollment document with the current term.
  • Expect a one-time code or an automatic price after you sign in. Some codes expire within a day.
  • Read the exclusions. Student discounts often skip sale items and can't be combined with other codes.
  • Re-verify each year. Most services ask again after about 12 months, and some stores ask every time.

How do student discounts work online?

A store can't see your student ID through the screen, so it hands the check to someone else. You prove you're enrolled once, and the store gets a yes or no. After that, you get either a code to paste into the discount code box or a lower price that applies when you're signed in.

Most stores use one of four services. A few run their own form instead, where you upload a student ID or type in a school email address. Either way, the discount is tied to you, so it isn't a code you can share or find on a coupon site.

Which verification services do stores use?

UNiDAYS

UNiDAYS is a free student membership. You sign up with your school details, verify once, and then open a store's offer from the UNiDAYS site or app to get a code. Many brands that work with UNiDAYS ask you to start from their own student page, which sends you to UNiDAYS and back.

Student Beans

Student Beans works much the same way. You create a free account, verify with a school email or an uploaded document, and the store either emails you a code or applies the price after a quick sign-in. It's common with fashion, beauty and software brands.

SheerID

SheerID usually runs in the background. You fill in a short form on the store's own page, often with your name, school and date of birth, and SheerID checks it against enrollment records. If it can't confirm you, it asks for a document. There's no separate account to set up, and most of the streaming services below use it.

ID.me

ID.me is one account for several groups: students, military, teachers, nurses and first responders. You verify your identity once, then a "Verify with ID.me" button on a store's page or checkout applies the discount. It takes longer the first time because it confirms who you are as well as your school.

VerifyPass and the store's own form

VerifyPass works like ID.me and is common with smaller brands' "heroes" programs. Other stores skip the services and ask for a .edu email address or a photo of your student ID. Expect a code by email, sometimes after someone checks it by hand, which can take a day or two.

What do you need to verify as a student?

  • A school email address. A .edu address is the fastest route with most services, though many also accept other school domains.
  • A document with a current date. A student ID card, a class schedule, a tuition statement or an enrollment letter. It should show your name, your school and the current term.
  • Your real details. The name and date of birth you type in must match your school records, or the check fails.

If you're a part-time, graduate or online student, you can usually verify too. The store's terms decide that, and some programs cover only college students, not high school. Streaming deals often add an age rule and a US college requirement.

How do you check if a store has a student discount?

  1. Scroll to the footer. Look for "Student discount", "Discounts", "Heroes" or "Verify with ID.me".
  2. Search the help center or FAQ for "student". Stores that don't offer one often say so there.
  3. Search the verification service. UNiDAYS and Student Beans both have a brand search, and ID.me lists partner stores.
  4. Look at the checkout. Some stores show a "Verify with ID.me" or student link right next to the discount code box.
  5. Ask the store. A short message to support gets a clear answer, and sometimes a one-off code.

Some stores say no outright. Mandala Scrubs' FAQ says it has no student discount, and Wyze had paused its Student Beans offer as of Oct 13, 2026.

Can you combine a student discount with other offers?

Usually not. Most student discounts arrive as a code, and most stores allow one code per order. Many also exclude items that are already on sale. Before you verify, compare the student discount with the store's current sale or promo code on its Offertium page, and use whichever saves more. If a code gets rejected, Why Promo Codes Don't Work lists the usual reasons.

A few stores bend that rule. Saatva gives you the larger of the two discounts, and Jackery's 5% student discount is listed as stackable. Free shipping thresholds still count, though. If a student code drops your order under the free-shipping line, the shipping fee can eat part of the saving.

Timing matters too. Big sale weekends like Black Friday often beat a student rate on markdowns, and our Back to School page collects the summer school-shopping sales.

Questions shoppers ask

Do I need a .edu email to get a student discount?

Not always. A .edu address is the quickest route with most verification services, but many also accept other school email domains or an uploaded document such as a student ID, class schedule or enrollment letter that shows the current term.

Can I use a student discount with another promo code?

Usually not. Most student discounts arrive as a code, and most stores allow one code per order. Many also exclude sale items, so compare the student discount with the store's current sale and use whichever saves more.

Do graduate, part-time and online students qualify?

Often, yes. Verification services check enrollment, not the type of program, but each store decides who counts. The store's student page or terms say whether it covers graduate, part-time, online or high school students.

How often do I have to verify?

Most services ask you to re-verify about once a year, and some stores ask each time you request a new code. If a code stops working, signing in again to the service usually refreshes your status.
